I love words
Words reach back into the depths of time for meanings we simply can’t extricate…or cancel if you prefer more modern terminology.
Community, now there’s a good word.
At its core, you have the prefix com- (Latin)
Meaning “together”; and -munis, meaning
“to oblige or be of service.”
So then, “to be of service to one another.”
But it comes along with a basket full
of rich variations, like unity, communication
and communion. When I think about The
Cedars Project, these are the ideas that
are carried along with it.
That first year was a revelation.
I didn’t know what to expect but I
was elated with the radiance of
the stage, the comfort of the location and the talent of the musicians.
I had known Isiah for a few years at this time but was blown away
by the extent of his vision. A vision
which has only grown in the years since.
Community, entertainment, education, these
are just the tip of the iceberg. What else
is possible? I look forward to finding
out!
